Cantr vs Stables
Lesson scheduling, waitlists, and staff-role portals — the pieces Stables' care-to-cash flow doesn't cover.
Stables leads with a slick free-to-start, pay-when-you-get-paid boarding automation story. It works well for pure boarding barns. Where Cantr wins is if you run lessons, need staff-facing tools, or want the same platform to cover clients, lessons, and invoices — not just autopay.

Competitor pricing and features reflect what Stables publishes on their own site as of February 2026. If they change something, email info@cantr.us and we'll update this page.
If you only board and want a payment-first workflow, Stables can be a fit. Cantr is the better call the moment lessons, staff scheduling, or vet/farrier tracking enter the picture — those are first-class in Cantr and not the focus in Stables.
Cantr's $29 Starter or $49 Pro plus a small (1.5% or 1%) platform fee is predictable regardless of how much you invoice. A percentage-only model rewards low-volume barns and penalizes high-volume ones. Model both against your last three months of receipts and pick the one that lands lower for your barn.
Yes — Cantr has a customer portal for boarders and parents to see their invoices, upcoming lessons, and horse info. You can also add contact-only clients (name + email + phone) without giving them portal access if you'd rather manage them without a login.
